Kelly McClure of Bohoknits wrote the beloved and popular FREE knit hat pattern called Sockhead Slouch Hat. She approved that I publish this video tutorial featuring her pattern, and that is exactly what you’ll see below.
The pattern calls for sock/fingering weight yarn, but don’t let that stop you if you are a beginner. I found this pattern to be easy with a few simple steps that are repeated over and over again. This is the perfect project for mindless knitting while curled up on the couch with a movie.
Materials needed to complete this project:
- Sock/fingering weight yarn – I’m using 2 skeins of KnitPicks Palette yarn in the color Cosmopolitan. Use whatever you have on hand! It could be random bits and bobs of sock yarn leftovers or that special skein of sock yarn.
- US 3/3.25 mm needles, 16-inch circulars
- US 3/3.25 mm double pointed needles for working the decreases
- A locking stitch marker
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Measuring tape or ruler
